Carbery raises September milk price by 1c/L
Carbery said its September base milk price would rise by 1c/L. The quoted average, if replicated by Bandon, Barryroe, Drinagh and Lisavaird, is 42.36c/L including VAT, the 0.5c/L somatic-cell-count payment and the FutureProof sustainability bonus.
Using the actual milk solids delivered by suppliers, the average return for September milk is expected to be 52.62c/L including VAT. Carbery will also retain a 1c/L contribution to its Milk Price Stability Fund for the month.
A Carbery spokesperson said the increase reflected an improvement in dairy-market returns. The spokesperson also said global milk supplies remained strong and market conditions were mixed, while the co-operative recognised the difficulties faced by farmer suppliers during the year.
Carbery was the latest co-operative to publish its September price. Tirlán said on October 19 that it would pay 40.08c/L including VAT and its 0.5c/L Sustainability Action Payment, an increase of 1c/L from August. It has set that figure as a minimum price for milk supplied in September, October, November and December.
Tirlán’s average payment for September creamery milk, calculated using the constituents delivered, was 50.80c/L including VAT. Dairygold raised its quoted September price by 1c/L to 40c/L, based on standard constituents of 3.3% protein and 3.6% butterfat and including sustainability, quality and VAT-related payments.
Dairygold reported an average farm-gate return of 51.3c/L for September based on the milk solids supplied by its farmers. On the European Union standard composition of 3.4% protein and 4.2% butterfat, its quoted figure was 43.9c/L including VAT.
Kinisla set its September price at 40.35c/L including VAT, quality and sustainability bonuses, compared with 39.6c/L in August. Its equivalent price on EU standard constituents was 44.18c/L, while the return based on its suppliers’ average September milk solids was 49.69c/L. Lakeland Dairies set a September base price of 39.7c/L in the Republic of Ireland, including a 0.5c/L Sustainability Incentive Payment, up from 39.1c/L for August.
