Campeche Prepares for a World-Class Dairy Plant

In the coming days, an international tender will be launched for the technological modernization of the Liconsa Dairy Plant in Campeche, marking a significant step in enhancing dairy processing facilities in the region.

According to Abid Moo Cruz, the state manager of Liconsa, this infrastructure project, set to begin operations in 2026, will be one of the most advanced globally. Located in the Bicentennial Industrial Park in San Francisco de Campeche, the plant aims to boost milk production from 45 million to 100 million liters annually, directly benefiting local households.

While specific details remain under wraps to protect the bidding process, Moo Cruz highlighted the project's alignment with the federal government's strategies under the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. It represents a critical opportunity for growth in the dairy and livestock sectors.

The development of the Liconsa plant coincides with various economic growth plans on the Yucatán Peninsula. Recently, strategic agreements were formalized during the "Orgullo Peninsular" meeting, attended by Campeche's Governor Layda Sansores San Román, Quintana Roo's Mara Lezama Espinosa, and Yucatán's Joaquín Díaz Mena.

The main goal is to strengthen national food security, with the "Hecho en México" brand relaunch and an increase in local production being key components. Concurrently, the 2025 Agronomic Meeting in Campeche attracted over 300 field specialists, emphasizing technological advancements and sustainable production. This positions Campeche as a leader in Mexico's dairy industry and rural development.
