Belarus plans to build 60 dairy farms in 2025–2026

According to Vladimir Grakun, the results in dairy farming directly depend on the improvement of milk production technologies, including modernization, reconstruction, and construction of specialized dairy farms. "As of January 1, 2025, there are almost 3 thousand dairy farms in the republic, of which 1,683 are modern high-tech complexes, or 56% of the total number of dairy farms. The share of such complexes in the total number of farms in the Brest region is 80%, Mogilev - 70%, Grodno - 67%, Gomel - 55%, Minsk - 53%," Vladimir Grakun noted.
Particular attention is paid to the transition of the dairy herd to modern conditions of maintenance. In 2023, large-scale work began to transfer the herd to new standards, which made it possible to ensure an increase in the gross output of the industry by 13.7% last year. As a result, domestic producers were able to increase productivity: the average milk yield of the dairy herd in the republic amounted to 6,739 kg, which is 541 kg higher than the national average, and the share of milk production at MTFs reached 77% of the total volume.
In 2024, out of 101 construction or reconstruction projects, 64 are new modern dairy complexes, with the largest number of them located in the Brest, Grodno and Minsk regions. These regions are also intensively developing the related infrastructure for keeping young cattle and storing feed.
“This year, we will continue work on modernizing the dairy industry and transferring the dairy herd to modern conditions of keeping,” concluded Vladimir Grakun. “In 2025–2026, it is planned to finance the construction of 60 dairy complexes with state support provided to agricultural producers. Construction work has already begun at more than 40 sites.”
