Argentine Dairy Production Slows Amid Market Challenges

In June, the growth of dairy production in Argentina showed clear signs of deceleration, with output only 1.6% higher than the previous year. This slowdown has shifted the focus of the dairy sector towards the upcoming spring and how it might influence milk supply.

According to Caprolecoba, both producers and industries are facing challenges in improving their economic outcomes. Dairy farms are investing in technology and productivity, while the industry deals with a weak domestic market and demanding international conditions, necessitating high export levels.

The report suggests that the slowdown in production and reduced stocks could help maintain milk prices over the coming months. However, it notes that price stability will largely depend on the development of the spring supply.

Another concern highlighted in the report is the potential strengthening of the El Niño phenomenon. In response, the national government has approved a Federal ENOS Coordination Plan for 2026/2027, aimed at enhancing preventive measures against possible floods.

Caprolecoba urges that these preventive measures include rural areas, with adequate resources for local committees and effective coordination among municipalities, provinces, and the national government.
