Argentina's dairy sector sees fluctuations as milk production hits 816 million litres in March 2025, with a minor monthly decline but a significant annual increase compared to 2024.

The Argentine milk industry reported a total production of 816 million litres for March 2025, according to the National Directorate of Dairy. This figure signifies a slight decline of 0.7% compared to February 2025.

However, when viewed on an annual basis, there is a notable increase of 15.9%. Over the first quarter of 2025, milk production rose by 10.9% compared to the same period in 2024, totaling 2.44 billion litres. Small dairy farms, producing under 2,000 litres daily, make up 60% of the country's dairies but contribute only 20% to the total production.

Farms producing between 2,000 and 10,000 litres daily generate 53% of the nation's total milk, with the remaining 27% coming from larger dairies exceeding 10,000 litres daily. The overall average daily production per farm is 2,696 litres. When analyzing production by province, Buenos Aires leads with a daily output of 3,899 litres, followed by Córdoba (3,085 litres), La Pampa (2,157 litres), Santa Fe (2,049 litres), Entre Ríos (1,741 litres), and Santiago del Estero (1,248 litres).
