AHDB Initiative Calls on Welsh Dairy Farms to Lead Positive Change in Agriculture

Insights from these farms will be disseminated to fellow farmers, facilitating knowledge transfer and learning from shared experiences.
The program seeks to bolster resilience and performance across the dairy sector, showcasing best practices and demonstrations led by farmers to inspire improvements in others' operations.
Doreen Anderson, AHDB's knowledge exchange manager, emphasized the aim to empower farmers to embrace innovation and adaptability within their businesses.
"This presents a fantastic opportunity to work alongside local farmers and industry experts to drive beneficial changes on your farm," she added.
Existing participants in the program encompass a variety of farming systems, including year-round and block calving, as well as fully housed and extensively grazed operations.
Karen Halton from Chance Hall Farms, a former strategic dairy farmer, highlighted the program's role in connecting with industry specialists worldwide.
"We also gain valuable insights from others during Farm Walk days, while also sharing our own knowledge," she elaborated. "On a business level, it has spurred positive transformations and informed more data-driven decisions. Personally, if our experiences inspire fellow farmers to make improvements in their cows' welfare, that's incredibly rewarding."
