In exchange, Zimbabwe offers fruits and cotton, crucially from its bustling rural agricultural sector employing over 70% of its population.
This was emphasized during a recent meeting in Minsk between Zimbabwe’s Minister of Women Affairs and Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Monica Mutsvangwa, and the Belarusian Women’s Union leadership. Beyond commodities, Zimbabwe seeks to bolster its textile and leather industries, utilizing Belarusian expertise. The nations’ relationship, deeply rooted in cooperation across mining, agriculture, and education, has been progressively solidified, notably after President Alexander Lukashenko’s 2019 visit to Zimbabwe. Minister Mutsvangwa is in Belarus as part of the delegation led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, underscoring the strategic importance of this visit for future bilateral relations.
