Vermont's Dairy Industry Surges to $5.4 Billion Economic Impact

According to a new report by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Vermont's dairy industry now has an economic impact of $5.4 billion, demonstrating substantial growth from $2.6 billion a decade ago. The "Vermont Dairy Delivers" report highlights the increasing demand for dairy products among Americans, a trend mirrored in Vermont's thriving dairy sector. Cheese emerges as the largest contributor, with total sales of dairy products, including milk and ice cream, reaching over $2.6 billion in 2024. Notably, this growth occurs despite a decline in dairy farms, with numbers halved compared to 2013.
