Two municipalities in the Netherlands, Bloemendaal and Utrecht, voted to ban advertising of meat and dairy products in public places.

In the Dutch municipality of Bloemendaal, hamburgers and other meat products will soon stop appearing on billboards. All outdoor advertising of products that use fossil fuels as an energy source, such as combustion engine cars and airline tickets, will also be banned. The idea came from the coalition parties (D66, VVD and PvdA).
The municipality said it intends to take the necessary measures to reduce CO2 emissions and that growing and transporting livestock feed leads to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions, thereby contributing to global warming, Noordhollands Dagblad reports.
