Super Oro in the New World Cheese Encounter goes to Los Ríos

At the 2025 Encuentro Quesos del Nuevo Mundo, held at Espacio Riesco, Quesería Altos de Curaco from the Los Ríos Region in Chile was awarded the prestigious Super Oro, the highest accolade of the event. The competition featured over 340 cheeses from across the Americas, highlighting the best Chanco Cheese from Don Benedictino of Osorno.
Producers from countries such as Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, the United States, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay competed. A jury of 24 international judges assessed these entries, covering 14 categories. The winning cheese was noted for its 18 months of aging, firm rind, and intense flavors, reflecting both its technical quality and regional identity.
Chile emerged as one of the most rewarded countries, claiming 5 out of the 8 Super Oro awards given, underscoring the rising global recognition of its artisanal cheese producers.
