Spain's Milk Prices Continue to Lag Behind EU

In January, Spain witnessed a decline in milk deliveries by 0.9% compared to January of the previous year, reaching 624,323 tons, according to the latest data from FEGA. Over the past twelve months, deliveries have generally increased every month, barring August.
The cumulative deliveries over the last 12 months amount to 8.07 million tons, showing a 1.3% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
In terms of milk prices, January saw milk priced at an average of 49.5 cents per liter, which is 0.1 cents more than December and 2.2 cents less than a year ago. The EU Milk Observatory reports that the average price in the EU for January was 54.3 ct/kg compared to 54.53 ct/kg in December. In Spain, in January, the price in kilos was 50.19 ct/kg, showing a difference of 4.11 ct/kg less than in the EU.
Meanwhile, in neighboring countries like France and Portugal, the prices stood at 50.97 ct/kg and 45.80 ct/kg respectively.
