Feed Production in Russia May Reach 40 Million Tons by 2030
By the end of 2025, feed production amounted to 36.8 million tons, showing a growth of 1.2%. However, the rate of industry expansion has significantly slowed: while a few years ago the growth was about 5% annually, the market is now nearing saturation. According to Afanasyev, there is no feed deficit in the country.
The production structure shows a stable dominance of large agricultural holdings, which account for 73% of the output. Feed mills of poultry farms provide 18%, independent producers about 8%, and the remaining volume is produced by small feed workshops.
The main volume of production by animal type is for poultry and pig farming. In 2025, feed production for poultry increased to 17.1 million tons, for pigs to 16.2 million tons, while for cattle it reached 3.2 million tons.
The premix segment is showing stagnation: production volume was 586.5 thousand tons compared to 589.3 thousand tons the previous year. According to the industry union's assessment, this also indicates market saturation, despite the presence of reserves to increase production by 15–20%.
A key restraining factor remains the reduction in the production of feed additives, which decreased to 197 thousand tons in 2025 from 210 thousand tons the previous year. Solving this problem is considered a priority condition for the further development of the industry.
