Peruvian Government Boosts Dairy Industry with New Processing Plants

The Peruvian dairy industry is set for a transformation as the government, via the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), injects financial support into the sector. Through the AGROIDEAS program, the state has co-financed the construction and modernization of 19 dairy processing plants nationwide. This strategic initiative aims to enhance value addition and formalize national milk production, paving the way for sustainable growth and increased market competitiveness. The investment targets small to medium dairy producers, enabling them to process and add value to their milk, turning it into high-demand dairy products like cheese, yogurt, and butter. This empowers local producers to capture a larger share of market profits, reduce post-harvest losses, and ensure product freshness.
