Norco Co-operative, Australia's premier dairy co-operative, is delighted to announce its annual Christmas Day Bonus for dedicated farmer members. This initiative grants an additional 15 cents ($0.15) per litre for milk supplied on the festive occasion.

While households nationwide revel in Santa's arrival, Norco dairy farmers are committed to delivering approximately 660,000 litres of milk on Christmas Day. This ensures consumers can savor fresh, high-quality dairy throughout the festive season.
The Christmas Bonus program recognizes that the dairy industry operates year-round, even on Christmas Day. Norco's diligent farmers work tirelessly 365 days a year to provide Australians with the finest dairy products.
This announcement follows Norco's earlier increase of 1.1 cents per litre in farmgate milk prices, reaching an average of 88 cents per litre ($0.88). This reflects the highest farmgate milk price on record for Norco dairy farmers.
The combined impact of these increases and bonuses is projected to provide Norco farmers with an additional $25.6 million compared to last year. Of this, $5.6 million is attributed to the higher milk price, while $20 million is linked to increased volume.
Norco CEO Michael Hampson emphasizes the co-operative's deep commitment to supporting its farmers. The Christmas Day Bonus serves as a tangible expression of appreciation for the hard work and dedication that ensures high-quality milk on supermarket shelves year-round.
Hampson notes Norco's leadership in the industry on milk prices but underscores that this initiative is about more than financial compensation. It's a gesture to demonstrate how much Norco values its farmers, especially during the Christmas period.
Earlier in the year, Norco partnered with the National Farmers' Federation to release the National Farmer Wellbeing Report, shedding light on the mental health challenges faced by Australian farmers. The report revealed that 76% of farmers feel undervalued by the Australian public, contributing to mental health struggles.
Hampson stresses the need for change, stating that farmers are the backbone of the country. Norco's efforts aim to ensure they receive fair compensation, particularly on Christmas Day. Consumers can show support by choosing Aussie-owned products this festive season, with Norco being a 100% farmer-owned co-operative.
Andrew Wilson, a third-generation dairy farmer supplying Norco for 25 years, expresses gratitude for the meaningful Christmas Bonus. He highlights the normalcy of dairy farmers working on Christmas Day and acknowledges the bonus as a significant contribution to spreading festive cheer.
Wilson extends his thanks to consumers who choose Norco products, emphasizing that it is the best gift Santa can deliver to farmers. The popular Norco milk range, available in one, two, or three litres, can be found in Queensland and New South Wales at Woolworths, Coles, and selected independent supermarkets.
