Modern Milkman Introduces Mossgiel's Brewed Milk Amid Rising Demand
Modern Milkman, a UK doorstep delivery service, has included Mossgiel Organic Dairy's 'brewed milk' in its product range to meet the increasing demand for less processed dairy options. This 'brewed milk' is a legally compliant alternative to raw milk, which is tightly regulated in the UK.
The milk undergoes a gentle pasteurization process at 68°C for five minutes, preserving its proteins and fuller flavor while ensuring safety. This method is more energy-efficient than traditional pasteurization, aligning with Modern Milkman's sustainability goals.
Mossgiel's cows are grass-fed on a seasonal diet without synthetic additives, contributing to the milk's shifting flavor profile, which varies from sweet in spring to buttery in colder months. The milk is non-homogenised, retaining a natural cream layer.
Modern Milkman's initiative supports its strategy to expand its dairy range and promote regenerative farming practices. The milk is delivered in a reusable 1-litre glass bottle, priced at £2.80, as part of the company's circular packaging model.
Jenny Thomason, head of commercial at Modern Milkman, stated that this move addresses customer demand for raw-like milk options that meet safety standards. Bryce Cunningham, managing director at Mossgiel Organic Dairy, emphasized the product's compliance with regulations and its appeal for uses like coffee and porridge.
