Israeli food tech startup, Imagindairy, has acquired and initiated operations in its own industrial-scale precision fermentation production lines, marking a groundbreaking move within the dairy industry. Imagindairy becomes the first company to fully own and operate production lines dedicated exclusively to animal-free milk proteins.

With advanced technology and a focus on sustainability, Imagindairy aims to offer animal-free products at cost parity with traditional dairy.
Dr. Eyal Afergan, Co-founder and CEO of Imagindairy, highlighted the significance of overcoming industry challenges, including production capacity bottlenecks, to achieve cost competitiveness. The newly acquired facility provides access to over 100,000 liters of fermentation capacity, with plans to triple this volume in the next one to two years. Imagindairy is already producing industrial-scale batches at a competitive cost compared to traditional dairy.
This milestone follows Imagindairy's receipt of a "no questions" response letter from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for its Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) notice, affirming the safety of its ingredient. The company's progress positions it to accelerate mass-market adoption and the development of additional milk proteins.
Shmuel Chafets, Founder and Partner at Target Global, and Jonathan Berger, CEO of The Kitchen FoodTech Hub, expressed confidence in Imagindairy's transformative impact on the dairy industry. Products featuring Imagindairy's animal-free dairy protein are slated for launch in the U.S. in the upcoming year.
