IIT-BHU Supports Dairy Innovation through Agri-Tech Collaboration in Uttar Pradesh

The Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi has extended support to the agri-tech startup eVerseAI with approximately ₹40 lakh in funding. This support is part of the I-DAPT Hub Foundation under India's National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems. The mission, managed by the Department of Science and Technology, seeks to bolster innovation ecosystems and promote technological adoption in agriculture and related sectors.

Eastern Uttar Pradesh, including districts like Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, and Jaunpur, relies heavily on dairy farming as a vital source of income for small and marginal farmers. Despite its importance, the region faces challenges such as productivity gaps, limited data access, climate risks, and supply chain inefficiencies.

eVerseAI is leveraging artificial intelligence and digital tools to address these challenges. The startup aims to improve farm-level decision-making, enhance productivity, and build resilience against climate variability. Technological insights into feed optimization, herd health monitoring, and supply chain coordination are expected to increase milk yields while reducing input costs.

According to Prof. R.S. Singh, Director of the I-DAPT Hub Foundation, the combination of institutional mentorship and national mission support positions eVerseAI as a potential catalyst for transforming the dairy sector in eastern Uttar Pradesh. This initiative is seen as part of a broader shift towards integrating cyber-physical systems within India’s dairy value chain.

If effectively scaled, such technological models could strengthen farmer incomes, improve efficiency, and support sustainable growth in the organized dairy sector. The initiative represents a significant step towards technology-led rural development in the region.
