German Dairy Giant Ehrmann Invests €23m in Cornwall Dessert Facility
Ehrmann Cornish Dairy has launched the construction of a €23 million facility in Glynn Valley, Cornwall, aimed at producing its dessert range locally in the UK. The project, known as Project Arcadia, will augment the existing production capabilities of the business in the region, which also includes the Trewithen Dairy site.
Project Arcadia is anticipated to generate 30 new jobs over the next year and ensure the retention of more than 200 current positions. The construction has been marked by a ceremonial groundbreaking event scheduled for February 27, attended by Anna Gelderd, MP for South East Cornwall, and Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall.
Once operational, the facility will require approximately ten million litres of milk to meet production demands. This development marks the first time Ehrmann's dessert products will be manufactured in the UK.
Johannes Schmid, CEO of Ehrmann Cornish Dairy, commented on the development, stating, "Project Arcadia is a hugely exciting milestone for Ehrmann Cornish Dairy and a statement of our confidence in both Cornwall and the UK dairy industry." Schmid emphasized the company's commitment to integrating advanced manufacturing technologies and contributing to local job creation.
The completion of construction and commencement of production is slated for December 2026, signaling Ehrmann's long-term investment in the Cornish dairy industry and local farming.
