First Milk Wins Major Accolades at Cheese Awards
First Milk has won 12 awards for its cheese and dairy products. The British-owned dairy co-operative was recognised at the British and Irish Cheese Awards at the Royal Bath and West Showground in Somerset.

The 12 awards included six gold, four silver, and two bronze medals for its consumer brand cheeses and food service dairy products. The awards were for products made by Shaftesbury-based BV Dairy, which was acquired by First Milk last year. BV Dairy won seven awards, with its American-style full-fat soft cheese winning the Best Fresh in Class category. First Milk's consumer brand Golden Hooves, which was launched in 2022, has also been successful.

The brand now has five varieties of cheese – Vintage, Mature and Smoked Cheddars, Red Leicester, and Double Gloucester – and has recently entered the US market through 400 Sprouts supermarkets. Golden Hooves cheese is listed in Waitrose, Abel & Cole, and Fortnum & Mason as part of the Big Food Redesign Challenge, which recognises food that is better for the climate, biodiversity, and soil health.

Leona McDonald, First Milk's sales and marketing director, said: "To achieve awards across our entire range clearly indicates our commitment to manufacture dairy products to the utmost standard. Congratulations to everyone involved, including our farmer members who provide us with the highest quality milk from which to build." First Milk is a regenerative dairy co-operative, meaning it focuses on farming practices that improve the health of the land and environment.
