First Milk Raises Manufacturing Milk Price for July 2026
On June 2, 2026, First Milk announced an increase in its milk price for a standard manufacturing litre. From July 1, 2026, the price will rise by 0.6 pence per litre (ppl), bringing the total to 31.35 ppl, inclusive of the member premium.
This adjustment reflects First Milk's ongoing strategy to support its members amid changing market conditions. The cooperative, which is a prominent player in the dairy industry, has been making significant strides in sustainability and business growth.
Recent initiatives include a pioneering water quality project impacting 700 dairy farms and a collaboration with Nestlé that has led to a reduction of 1,000 tonnes of CO₂e through the adoption of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel. Furthermore, First Milk has announced its largest-ever capital investment at the Lake District Creamery, underscoring its commitment to enhancing production capabilities.
The cooperative is also actively involved in leadership development within the industry, as evidenced by the launch of the Young Dairy Leaders program in partnership with Nestlé. This initiative aims to foster a resilient future for dairy production.
Leadership within First Milk is poised for transition, with CEO Shelagh Hancock set to retire after a decade of transforming the cooperative. Her tenure has seen a focus on sustainability and innovation, positioning First Milk as a leader in the sector.
