Georgiy Kukhaleyshvili suggests that dairy product prices in Ukraine have increased over the past month due to the strengthening of raw milk prices in the domestic market. Raw milk production and processing have reached a balance, eliminating milk surpluses. Dairy processing enterprises require more raw milk for the production of exchange-traded goods due to the activation of export activities by Ukrainian dairy companies. As a result, the supply of raw milk in Ukraine has become limited, driving up prices. The profitability of producing exchange-traded goods in Ukraine has improved due to rising prices for butter, cheese, or dry dairy products on the global market during several GDT sessions in May, as well as the devaluation of the hryvnia.

According to a study by the Kantar agency, the share of drinking yogurt consumers in Ukraine increased by 2% (from 35% to 37%) compared to November 2022. About 34% of consumers buy drinking yogurt once a week, and 24% two to three times. Data from Ardis Group shows that from 2019 to 2023, the share of semi-hard cheeses in cheese category sales in the 14 largest retail chains in Ukraine decreased from 44% to 35%, while the share of fresh cheeses, such as Mozzarella and Suluguni, increased from 18% to 26%. According to Your Total Market agency, the most popular dairy products among Ukrainians in 2023 were drinking milk, with a 47.2% share of the total market volume, followed by yogurt (12.9%), kefir (10.5%), sour cream (8.6%), and butter (7.2%).
