Dairy Prices Rise Again at Fonterra, Gains 1.6%

The latest auction by New Zealand's Fonterra saw dairy product prices increase for the second consecutive time on April 15, 2025.

The global dairy market observed a notable uplift as New Zealand's Fonterra's auction on April 15, 2025, recorded a 1.6% increase in dairy product prices. This marks the second consecutive session of price escalation following a 1.1% rise in the previous auction.
Despite this upswing, the overall quantity traded dipped by 7%, reaching 16,718 tonnes. Notably, Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) recorded a 2.3% drop in price, now valued at 2,457 euros per tonne, whereas Cheddar cheese saw a 1.8% price decrease, settling at 4,327 euros per tonne.
On the brighter side, the price of butter rose by 1.5%, reaching 6,750 euros per tonne, and Whole Milk Powder (WMP) enjoyed a 2.8% increase, standing at 3,666 euros per tonne. The cooperative's dominant market position and its export capability, responsible for 95% of its production reaching over 130 countries, underscores its pivotal role in global dairy trade.
