Chihuahua's Support Program Distributes 300 Tons of Livestock Feed
The state of Chihuahua, in collaboration with the municipality of Cuauhtémoc, completed the distribution of 300 tons of concentrated livestock feed as part of the final phase of the 'Cuenta Conmigo' program. This initiative directly benefited 200 agricultural producers, particularly impacting the Mennonite community, a significant contributor to the region's dairy production.
Each producer received an allocation of 1.5 tons of balanced feed, representing a public investment exceeding 1.3 million pesos. According to Mayor Humberto 'Beto' Pérez, this distribution marks the conclusion of a comprehensive assistance strategy that processed approximately 1,500 critical support requests throughout its implementation in the local primary sector.
In addition to concentrated feed, the program provided strategic supplies such as straw, ground corn, and certified oat and sorghum seeds to establish forage pastures. These subsidies aim to mitigate rising production costs and secure daily milk extraction rates amid challenges posed by seasonal droughts and increasing global grain prices.
Mauro Parada, head of Chihuahua's Ministry of Rural Development, confirmed the government's commitment to transition from emergency support to long-term structural programs. The ministry's upcoming agenda includes the launch of specific financing windows for technological equipment, infrastructure modernization, and the implementation of energy-efficient systems in collection centers and milking parlors.
The consolidation of these intergovernmental alliances is crucial for maintaining the competitive status of the Chihuahua dairy basin. By ensuring the nutritional base of herds in highly productive areas like the Mennonite fields, local authorities aim to prevent livestock depopulation while guaranteeing a continuous supply of high-quality raw materials to regional processing plants and dairy derivative industries.
