Brooklands Dairy Relocates to Expand Ice Cream Production in Shropshire
Brooklands Dairy, known for its artisanal dairy products, has announced plans to relocate its operations to Deefields Farm, a move that includes the development of an ice cream enterprise, tea room, and seating area. The dairy, which uses organic milk from Brown Swiss cows, is currently on the market for £5,950,000.
The company has a stock of 440 cattle and has received planning approval for the new building at Deefields. The conversion of the existing barn will include a servery, seating area, kitchen, pasteurising area, and storage. Additional seating will be available on the first floor, accessed via a new staircase, and solar panels will be installed on the roof.
Local support for the move is strong, with residents and the Ellesmere Rural Parish Council backing the project. However, concerns were raised about traffic management, leading to plans for passing places and improved sight lines on the access road.
Shropshire Council planning officer Alison Lloyd stated that the conversion is a sustainable form of rural diversification. The development will contribute positively to the local community's vitality without harming the area's character.
