Alpenrose Dairy to Close Oregon Butter Plant Amid Market Challenges
Alpenrose Dairy has revealed plans to shut down its butter production facility located in Clackamas, Oregon, which is the company's sole plant in the state. This decision is primarily driven by what the company describes as 'worsening butter market economics.' The closure is set to take place on March 31 and will affect approximately 35 employees.
The dairy company, known for its wide range of dairy products, intends to consolidate its operations and shift focus towards milk production at their Kent, Washington facility. Despite the closure, Alpenrose Dairy assures that it will continue to supply its products to grocery stores across the Pacific Northwest region.
Alpenrose Dairy's move highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the butter industry, including fluctuating demand and pricing pressures, which have affected the financial performance of their Clackamas plant.
