Adopt a Cow reaches 1.7M students, now open for enrollment

The "Adopt a Cow" program, supported by Discover Dairy, has reached over 1.7 million students and is expanding its enrollment.

With the school year coming to an end, Discover Dairy's "Adopt a Cow" program has seen significant growth, impacting over 1.7 million students worldwide through its innovative dairy education initiative. Thanks to contributions fr om partners and donors, more than 43,000 classrooms participated in this immersive program, which is provided free of charge to teachers and groups.
The program allows students to "adopt" a cow from a U.S. dairy farm, providing them with an inside look through photos, video updates, and activity sheets. Leveraging hands-on learning and a free curriculum that aligns with Common CORE standards, students gain an understanding of dairy farming and wh ere their food comes from.
Live virtual chats and farm tours further enhance the experience, allowing students from various regions to engage directly with dairy farmers. Brittany Snyder, Dairy Education Program Manager at the Dairy Excellence Foundation, noted, "We had the highest number of students impacted by Adopt a Cow in program history this year, and we hope to continue building on this momentum." The program also boasts high levels of trust and learning enhancements among students, with more than 99% of teachers surveyed reporting improved perceptions of the dairy industry. Adopt a Cow is open for enrollment for the 2025-26 school year, with registration from May 1 to September 15, 2025.
