Texas Governor Greg Abbott enthusiastically disclosed the expansion plan on March 7, emphasizing the substantial economic impact and employment opportunities it will bring to the region. The new processing facility, situated in McLennan County, near Waco, is projected to generate nearly 400 new jobs and contribute millions to the local economy.

Governor Abbott commended Walmart's decision, stating, “Walmart’s new processing facility in Robinson is exciting news for Texas, creating millions in investment for the local economy and hundreds of new, good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans in central Texas." He attributed Walmart's choice of Texas to the state's favorable business climate, lower operating costs, and a highly skilled and diverse workforce.

The city of Robinson, strategically located near Waco and part of the North American Free Trade Agreement corridor, is set to host Walmart's significant investment. This site, situated along the I-35 corridor, boasts 97,000 freight-intensive businesses, facilitating the movement of 137 million tons of freight valued at $307 billion annually.

Bruce Heckman, Vice President of Walmart Manufacturing, expressed excitement about the new facility's role in enhancing the company's supply chain resilience and transparency. The facility will process and bottle various types of milk, meeting the increasing demand for high-quality products from Texas dairy farmers. The milk will be packaged in gallon and half-gallon containers under Walmart's Great Value and Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark brands.

Walmart's commitment to job growth and community support is evident in its "Investing in American Jobs" initiative, pledging $350 billion over a decade to invest in products made, sourced, grown, or assembled in the U.S. The Robinson venture, scheduled to open in 2026, marks Walmart's third owned-and-operated milk processing site in the area.

Mayor Bert Echterling of Robinson hailed Walmart's investment as a transformative milestone for the city, emphasizing the strength of the local economy, workforce dedication, and the strategic advantages the city provides. McLennan County Judge Scott Felton echoed these sentiments, highlighting the project as a testament to the region's prowess in food and beverage manufacturing. The venture stands as a testament to Walmart's commitment to fostering economic development in the area.
