In a strategic move, Fonterra has announced the integration of Fonterra Australia and Fonterra Brands New Zealand, forming a new entity named Fonterra Oceania. This shift in business structure aims to streamline operations and foster synergy between the Australian and New Zealand branches.
Reassuring Australian suppliers, Fonterra emphasized that milk sourced from Australian farmers will remain integral to the production of established Australian brands. Rene Dedoncker, the former Fonterra Australia managing director, will take the helm of Fonterra Oceania, bringing with him extensive global and multi-geography experience.
Addressing concerns about potential distractions from managing the Australian segment within the larger entity, Fonterra highlighted Mr. Dedoncker's seasoned leadership and the robust support provided by the trans-Tasman leadership team.
The company underlined its unwavering commitment to the Australian dairy industry, stating, "Fonterra’s commitment to the Australian dairy industry is unchanged." It affirmed that there will be no disruption for Australian farmers, with the Australian milk pool continuing to supply milk solids for local brands and ingredients.
Fonterra Brands New Zealand, encompassing consumer brands and foodservice businesses in New Zealand, such as Anchor, Mainland, and Kāpiti, will persist in utilizing milk from New Zealand farmers.
The integration of Fonterra Australia and Fonterra Brands New Zealand into Fonterra Oceania is scheduled to take effect from May 1, marking a significant milestone in the company's strategic restructuring.
