As Easter approaches, the market for eggs and dairy in Argentina and Paraguay is experiencing significant shifts. Initially affected by adverse weather conditions, including high temperatures that led to a production drop of about 5%, the sectors are now recovering.

The production of eggs is rebounding, leading to more varied pricing options for consumers, with a decrease in the egg price to as low as G. 32,000 for minor sellers. In the dairy sector, while there was a slight increase in fluid milk prices due to bad weather, with increments around G. 300, the availability of cheese and other dairy products remains stable. Cheese, especially artisanal, tends to see price hikes during high-demand periods such as Easter.

The article highlights that the demand for eggs could increase by up to 40% during the holiday. Current offerings in markets such as Abasto Norte show competitive prices: corn flour at G. 6,000 per kilo and eggs at G. 33,000 for a tray of 30.

According to Néstor Zarza, president of the Paraguayan Poultry Farmers Association (Avipar), the market has stabilized, and prices are expected to decrease post-Easter, despite high short-term demand. Erno Becker, president of the Paraguayan Chamber of Dairy Industrialists, reassures that production levels are expected to normalize as more favorable weather conditions return, with anticipated production peaks between June and July.
