Record Milk Production in Río Negro: Efficiency and Cost-effectiveness
In the Valle Inferior de Río Negro, a dairy farm is setting records by producing an average of 21,000 liters of milk daily, reaching peaks of up to 65,000 liters. This feat is achieved by leveraging 75% homegrown forage, resulting in lower costs compared to Buenos Aires, where self-sufficiency is about 50%.

The farm's success is attributed to favorable climates and breeds like the Rangitata. While these cows produce less volume than the traditional Holando breed, they excel in solid content with 480–500 kg of solids per cow annually. These solids are crucial for the dairy and transportation industries. The majority of the milk is sold to La Serenísima, with some transported to a cheese factory in Cipolletti.

This case demonstrates how efficiency in production, milk quality, and economic sustainability can be achieved through region-specific strategies, selective breeding, and optimized forage management.
