This voluntary scheme, open from October 29 to October 31, allows suppliers to secure pricing for either 5% or up to 10% of their 2023 milk volumes, providing financial predictability amid ongoing market challenges.

Under the scheme, suppliers in the Republic of Ireland can fix prices at 46 cents per liter (including VAT) from April to September, with an increased rate of 48 cents per liter from October to March. In Northern Ireland, prices are set at 37p per liter for the April-September period and 39p per liter for the October-March period. Eligible for all Lakeland Dairies bonuses, the scheme is designed to offer stability in pricing, allowing farmers to mitigate potential downturns.

Colin Kelly, Group CEO of Lakeland Dairies, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in light of the price fluctuations affecting the dairy sector. “Market volatility has become one of the biggest challenges facing dairy farm families in recent years. Fixed milk price schemes provide farmers with a degree of clarity, enabling them to plan more confidently for the future,” Kelly remarked.

As part of its ongoing support measures, Lakeland Dairies has also introduced a dairy feed support initiative to aid liquid and winter milk suppliers. The rebate program is intended to help herds maintain balanced diets through early and mid-lactation, addressing feed challenges following a difficult growing season.

This fixed milk price scheme reflects Lakeland Dairies’ commitment to equipping farmers with practical tools to navigate market uncertainties, reinforcing its role as a key partner in ensuring the sustainability of dairy farm businesses.
