The price includes a 3c/L top-up and quality bonuses, pushing the EU standard price with 3.4% protein and 4.2% butterfat to 58.5c/L, while the average milk solids return for January stands at 63.2c/L.
The processor acknowledged a recent softening of dairy prices in Europe due to easing concerns over a foot-and-mouth outbreak but remains optimistic about global demand, which is expected to support prices as peak production season approaches.
Lakeland Dairies, another key player, maintained its January base price at 49.75c/L, including VAT, with sustainability incentives and out-of-season payments bolstering farmer returns. Northern Ireland suppliers will receive 40.8p/L with additional seasonal payments.
