Kazakhstan imposes temporary restrictions on livestock imports from the Czech Republic due to the threat of bluetongue
This was reported by Dairynews.today, citing a letter addressed to the territorial inspections of regional committees.

The decision comes into effect on September 12, 2024, based on official information from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) regarding the risks of bluetongue spread.

The restrictions apply to cattle, sheep, wild and zoo animals, circus animals susceptible to bluetongue, as well as camels and other members of the camel family, including llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas. Additionally, the import of bull, ram, and goat semen, as well as cattle and sheep embryos, is prohibited, except for those collected in vivo in accordance with Chapter 4.8 of the WOAH Terrestrial Animal Health Code.

Transit restrictions are also being imposed on products containing animals susceptible to bluetongue that are shipped from the Czech Republic through Kazakhstan.

Products shipped before September 12, 2024, will be reviewed and cleared as usual, according to the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
