Kansas State Fair organizers are enhancing safety protocols for this year's event, introducing additional testing requirements for dairy cattle in response to heightened concerns over avian influenza.
While dairy cattle shows will proceed as planned, all lactating cows will now undergo mandatory “clear milk” tests to ensure their health. Exhibitors fr om outside the state must also provide a certificate of veterinary inspection to comply with the new safety guidelines.
“In addition to the testing protocols, we are increasing hygiene measures, including more handwashing stations. This is crucial as fairgoers move between areas like the dairy section and the poultry barn, wh ere the avian flu has been particularly severe,” said Jenn Galloway, competitions director at the Kansas State Fair.
