Fonterra has joined Circular Communities Australia’s program to recycle large industrial plastic bags.

Fonterra has signed on with Circular Communities Australia’s big bag recovery program, which upcycles large industrial plastic bags into new products made from recycled materials.
These include school chairs and water evaporation covers. The initiative aims to recycle approximately 14,000 one-tonne bulk bags annually, potentially reducing CO2 emissions equivalent to removing 12,480 cars from roads yearly. Cotter noted, "Recycling these bags not only reduces emissions but also diverts around 40 tonnes of plastic into the circular economy annually."
Circular Communities Australia's new facility in Toowoomba, Queensland, launched in February, plays a pivotal role in these efforts.
