Argentina and Uruguay's dairy exports show a strong start to 2025 with varying dynamics.

The South American dairy market has been witnessing significant dynamics as 2025 unfolds.
Argentina concluded January with a notable surge in exports, while Uruguay managed to achieve better prices in February despite a decline in export volumes.
Argentina's Performance: In January, Argentina saw a significant improvement with a 5.85% increase in the average export price, from $3,604/Ton to $3,814.61/Ton in the second half of the month.
Export volumes grew by 48.2%, reaching 16,799.26 tons, and the number of destinations increased from 24 to 31. On a monthly scale, total exports for January amounted to 28,136.28 tons, with an average price of $3,731.66/Ton.
The diversification of markets indicates a positive turn for Argentina's dairy sector. Products like Whole Milk Powder saw a 2.47% price increase, with exports of 6,070.65 tons.
Meanwhile, Semi-hard Cheese notably increased by 90.6% in export volume, largely catering to Brazil and Southeast Asia.
Uruguay's Market: February in Uruguay presented a price rise of 14.2%, with average export prices escalating from $3,561.71/Ton in the first half of the month to $4,067.35/Ton in the second. However, export volumes decreased by 20.2%, from 9,715.76 tons to 7,751.14 tons.
Despite this, the number of export destinations rose from 23 to 30, suggesting broader market access. March will be pivotal in determining if this upward pricing trend continues, attributing changes to potential international demand shifts or strategic export agreements.
