With a legacy spanning 120 years and encompassing 40 member countries representing a significant portion of the world’s milk production, the IDF World Dairy Summit is a premier gathering in the dairy industry. New Zealand last hosted the summit in 2010, attracting over 2,000 attendees.

The successful bid was spearheaded by the New Zealand International Dairy Federation (IDFNZ), in collaboration with the Auckland Convention Bureau (ACB) and Tourism New Zealand. Convenor Andy Williams highlighted New Zealand's pivotal role in the global dairy sector, accounting for 40% of the world’s traded dairy products.

“We’ll be able to showcase what New Zealand is doing to stay at the forefront of this important global industry and how we’re adapting to emerging challenges," said Williams. "Dairy plays a crucial role in global nutrient supply sustainability, safety, and security, and it’s imperative that New Zealand contributes to these vital discussions.”

Anticipated to inject over $2 million into the region’s economy, the event underscores Auckland’s prowess as a hub for agri-tech and a premier destination for business events, noted Ken Pereira, head of ACB.

The Summit will not only provide a platform for industry discourse but also offer technical tours encompassing manufacturing plants, research institutes, and farms, showcasing New Zealand’s broader agriculture sector. Social tours will allow delegates to immerse themselves in Auckland’s unique blend of conference facilities and natural landscapes.

Bjoern Spreitzer, general manager New Zealand and Business Events at Tourism New Zealand, expressed enthusiasm for the exchange of expertise between global experts and New Zealand’s dairy industry. He encouraged visitors to explore and savor the diverse offerings of New Zealand beyond the conference setting.
