Arla Foods is set to resume normalcy at its German factory, which experienced a cyber breach that impacted production.

Arla Foods, one of the leading dairy cooperatives known for brands like Lurpak and Castello, anticipates that its German facility affected by a recent cybersecurity incident will "be back to normal" in a few days. The intrusion, described as "suspicious activity," disrupted operations at their plant in Upahl, Germany.
Despite this, other Arla facilities continue to function unimpacted. Sales in Germany reached €1.27bn in 2024, marking a 1.5% increase from the previous year, making it Arla's third-largest market behind the UK and Sweden. The group’s overall revenues were €13.8bn in 2024, slightly rising from €13.7bn the previous year. Arla is also in the process of merging with DMK, Germany's largest dairy co-op, aiming to form "the largest dairy cooperative in Europe," potentially garnering a joint revenue of €19bn. This strategic move aligns with Arla's broader ambitions despite the 2024 decline in DMK’s revenue from €5.5bn to €5.1bn. The incident echoes a similar cyberattack faced this month by Oettinger Getränke, another German company, underscoring an increasing cybersecurity threat within the industry.
