A bilateral meeting between the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliev and the Federal Minister of Trade, Industry and Production of Pakistan Gohar Ejaz took place in Istanbul. The parties discussed expanding cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, The DairyNews reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“The ports of Pakistan - Gwadar, Karachi, Qasim are of great interest to us both from the position of promoting the export of Kazakh products to the markets of Pakistan and South Asia, and from the position of increasing the attractiveness of the transit potential of our countries in terms of entering the export markets of the Persian Gulf and East Africa" , - said Arman Shakkaliev during the negotiations.

Currently, there are options for organizing mutual supplies both by land routes and using sea ports through the North-South corridor, Iran or through China, as well as road transportation through the Karakoram Highway through the territories of Kyrgyzstan, China and further to Pakistan.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached on mutually beneficial cooperation between the Pakistani logistics company National Logistics Cell and QazTrade in terms of providing fixed tariffs for the transportation of products by the Pakistani company towards Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The press service recalls that in 2022, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Pakistan amounted to $73.5 million. In January-October 2023, the countries traded for $38.7 million. The list of potential export goods also includes food products.
