Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharampal Singh made the appeal at the dairy conclave “Swarnim Dughdhamrit Samvad Samagam” at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Jhansi. He told prospective investors that the government would provide support, security and access to benefits available under various schemes.

Singh identified the Jhansi, Chitrakoot Dham and Kanpur divisions as areas with opportunities in agriculture, animal husbandry and dairy development. The government’s stated focus covers the full dairy chain, including milk collection, processing, value addition and cold-storage facilities.

Officials said the dairy programme is intended to support farmers’ incomes and create employment opportunities for women and young people in rural areas. Livestock rearing was also presented as a complementary activity for farming households. The state’s plans include initiatives beyond milk production, such as processing plants, chilling facilities, value-added dairy products and cold-chain infrastructure.

Dhanlakshmi K, the dairy commissioner, said Uttar Pradesh remains India’s largest milk-producing state. She said the government was pursuing assured markets, transparent pricing and sustainable incomes for dairy farmers through programmes including the Nand Baba Milk Mission and Dairy Development Policy-2022.

Under the Nand Baba Milk Mission, about 1,200 beneficiaries in the three divisions have received more than ₹13.5 crore through direct benefit transfers, according to Dhanlakshmi. The assistance is intended to support dairy-related activities and provide beneficiaries with access to government aid.

Investment proposals linked to the Global Investors Summit total ₹190 crore across the three divisions. Kanpur accounts for ₹171 crore, while proposals in Jhansi amount to ₹15 crore and those in Chitrakoot Dham to ₹4 crore. Jhansi District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi described dairy as an increasingly important part of the rural economy and highlighted opportunities in milk production, processing and dairy entrepreneurship.
