Vilsack stated that the U.S. plans to expand the number of processing facilities and modernize existing ones, allocating $325 billion for this initiative. The goal is to create competition for small and medium-sized producers who currently lack alternative options for distribution. Through the USDA program, 150 projects focused on capacity modernization are being funded.

The Secretary also noted that the U.S. continues to work with the Department of Justice to ensure fairness in the marketplace. The farmerfairness.gov platform will allow producers to report violations, enabling authorities to respond quickly and open investigations. Vilsack emphasized that the current administration has significantly strengthened support for agricultural producers by providing additional resources for storage, distribution, and the purchase of local products.

“We see how USDA resources are transforming farmers' and processors' abilities to access new markets and ensure food security,” Vilsack added.
