The price of imported dairy products to Russia increased by 2 rubles.

Compared to mid-February, the peak value in 2023, the index is lower by 6.2% (-2.10 rubles). The weighted average price for raw milk in Russian regions is lower than February by 6% (-1.9 rubles), the price of import of exchange-traded dairy products into Russia is lower by 7.8% (-3.8 rubles).

Compared to last week, the weighted average price for milk in Russia, according to the crowdsourcing application Milk Price Index DIA, increased by 0.1% to 30.54 rubles/kg, 5.1% below November 2022. Prices for raw milk increased in the Kaliningrad region (+0.5 rubles compared to last week), Leningrad (+0.2 rubles) and Tyumen regions (+0.04 rubles). The price of raw milk in the Lipetsk region decreased (-0.1 rub.).

The import price increased by 4.6% to 44.75 rubles/kg, compared to November 2022, the figure is 7.7% lower. The import price of the COM+Butter pair amounted to 45.31 rubles/kg (1 kg in terms of milk), 0.3% lower than last week and 17.1% lower than mid-February 2023. The import price of the Cheese + Whey pair was 45.05 rubles/kg, 8% higher than last week and 1% lower than mid-February 2023. The import price of SCM remained at 33.41 rubles/kg, 13.3% lower than mid-February 2023.

Dairy Index DIA

Dairy Index DIA is calculated taking into account two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in Russian regions and the Import Price Index. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched the Index DIA crowdsourcing application, which allows one to accumulate current data on raw milk prices in Russian regions from direct market participants, milk producers and processors. The import price index is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products - SOM, SCM, butter, cheese and whey powder. Prices for imported dairy products are calculated taking into account prices for dairy products on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) and prices on the Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade platforms.
