Scottish food company The Albex Group has purchased the assets of Cheese Geek, a company known for its wholesale artisan cheese offerings, from administration. This acquisition is part of Albex’s expansion strategy in the cheese industry, following its acquisition of cheese cutter and packer Tom Walker & Sons in 2020.

Cheese Geek, founded in 2017, supplies artisan cheeses to retail and foodservice customers and offers a subscription box service to consumers. It boasts partnerships with notable outlets such as Sainsbury’s, Selfridges, and The Orient Express, along with support from entrepreneur Steven Bartlett on Dragon's Den. The company is dedicated to 'democratising the world’s local cheese' through unique cheese experiences featuring pairings and tasting notes.

Alex Daglish, director of Albex, emphasized the importance of supporting local artisan cheesemakers: "As a family company, we always take a long-term view and are committed to fully supporting Cheese Geek.” The existing team, including founder Edward Hancock, will continue operations, and significant investments and new projects are already being planned.
