The attack was part of one of the heaviest bombardments on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to date. Air raid alerts persisted for over 16 hours as Russia deployed a barrage of cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones. Preliminary data indicates that 93 missiles were launched, including at least one North Korean missile. Ukrainian forces intercepted and downed 81 of these missiles, 11 of which were cruise missiles shot down using F-16 fighter jets. Additionally, Russia deployed nearly 200 drones during the assault.

“This is a tactic of terror targeting energy infrastructure, residential buildings, schools, hospitals, and agricultural enterprises,” Chaus said, underscoring the devastating impact of the strikes on civilian life and critical facilities.

Chaus criticized the global response, warning that passivity or desensitization to such acts emboldens Russian President Vladimir Putin. “If world leaders are afraid to react or have grown accustomed to terror, Putin sees this as an invitation to continue. The world can stop this madness, but it must start with stopping the madness in Moscow, which has been ordering terror for over 20 years. Strength is needed,” Chaus stated, expressing gratitude to those supporting Ukraine’s defense.
