Milk production in Belarus grew by 3.8% while the number of livestock decreased and the overall growth of the agro-industrial complex slowed down to 1.7%

For comparison, in January-February of the current year, the growth was 1.2%, and at the end of January - 3.3%, which indicates a tendency to slowdown in the industry.The main contribution to the indicators was made by agricultural organizations, which produced products worth 5.28 billion Belarusian rubles, which is 1.8% higher than in the first quarter of 2024.
Production structure
In the reporting period, they produced:

451 thousand tons of livestock and poultry in live weight - down 1.6% year-on-year;

2.21 million tons of milk - an increase of 3.8%;

934.5 million eggs - growth by 4.4%
.Agricultural organizations account for 97.4% of the total production of meat, 98.6% of milk and 93.4% of eggs.
Livestock dynamics
As of April 1, 2025, agricultural organizations had:

4 million heads of cattle - a decrease of 2.4% compared to the same date last year;

Including 1.4 million cows, which is the same as last year;

2 million pigs - a decrease of 13%.
According to the results of 2024, the volume of agricultural production in Belarus increased by 3.4%. For comparison: in 2023, the growth amounted to 1%, while in 2022 - 3.6%. Current data indicate a moderate correction of the dynamics and the need for further measures to stimulate productivity in livestock farming.
