Russia Emerges as a Global Leader in Meal Production
Over the past decade, sunflower meal production in the country increased by 120%, and exports grew by 115%, reaching 2.8 million tons, securing Russia the second place in global exports of this product.

The canola meal sector shows even more impressive growth. From 2015 to 2024, its production rose by a record 578% — from 0.3 million to 1.8 million tons, setting an absolute world record and placing Russia fifth among global producers.

Soybean meal figures also demonstrate solid growth: production reached 4.8 million tons (+84% since 2014), and exports amounted to 0.9 million tons, with Russia ranking eighth in the world. Domestic consumption of soybean meal is estimated at 3.9 million tons.

An important milestone was achieving complete self-sufficiency: analysts note zero imports of all types of meal in 2024.

While global meal production grew by 26% over ten years to 331.9 million tons, Russia's growth rates significantly outpaced the global average.

According to Oleoscope, the Russian oil and fat industry has achieved strategic advantages: a balanced production structure with simultaneous development of sunflower, soybean, and canola sectors; an export-oriented model alongside rising domestic demand; increased added value by shifting from raw material exports to processed products.
