Record-Breaking Sale of Canterbury Dairy Farm Highlights A2 Herd Value

The New Zealand dairy real estate market has witnessed a landmark sale, with the Canterbury property known as Kyle Park being sold for $87,241 per hectare, amounting to a total of $34.4 million. This transaction has set a new benchmark in the region, surpassing the previous high of $70,000 per hectare. The auction was highly competitive, involving 70 bids from five bidders.

Kyle Park operates with an A2 herd under the Synlait Gold Elite programme, marking it as a high-value asset. The farm spans approximately 394 hectares and consistently milks 1,350 cows, with an annual production average of 625,640 kgMS. The farm's infrastructure includes a modern 80-bail rotary dairy shed equipped with advanced technology such as a Waikato plant and Protrack system.

The property's water supply, crucial for maintaining year-round pasture growth, includes low-cost bore water and support from the Acton Irrigation Scheme. Environmental compliance has been a priority, with effective nutrient management and spray irrigation controls in place.

The sale was finalized with a Canterbury family continuing the local farming legacy. The sales representative emphasized that the property's sale price reflects its quality and the strong confidence in the dairy sector's future.
