ProviCo wins Victoria export award
ProviCo received the Victorian export award six years after acquiring the former Fonterra manufacturing site in Dennington, in southwest Victoria. The company began as a domestic producer of calf milk replacer and has expanded into international sales of specialized dairy protein ingredients.
The manufacturer supplies customers in Europe, China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the United States, New Zealand and the Middle East. Its current operations employ 75 people and source raw milk and other dairy streams from 40 local farms.
The export award coincides with the third phase of a $90m redevelopment at the Dennington plant. The phase is approaching completion, with the facility scheduled for full commissioning early next year.
The investment is expanding the site’s fractionation capacity. Upgraded production lines are intended to support commercial-scale output of alpha-lactalbumin and beta-lactoglobulin, functional proteins used in premium infant formula, medical nutrition and specialized sports-dietetics products.
Company leadership attributed the award to work by its operational teams, financial backers, technology suppliers and regional dairy-farm partners. ProviCo has directed investment towards high-purity protein isolation rather than standard bulk products such as whole milk powder and block cheese.
After winning at state level, ProviCo will represent Victoria as a national finalist at the Australian Export Awards in Canberra in late November. The company’s Dennington operation was developed from a former processing site into a facility producing export-oriented dairy protein fractions.
