Yogurt Production in Russia Grew by Over 10% in 2024
Yogurt production, which accounts for 6% of the dairy market, grew by 10.1% to 698 million liters. Production of soft, processed, and curd cheeses (2.7% of the market) increased by 8.9%, reaching 319 million kg.

Growth was also observed in the production of other dairy products:
  • Curd and curd products (+8.6%, to 620 million kg)
  • Milk-containing products and desserts (+5.8%, to 382 million kg/l)

The only category that showed a decrease was kefir (-4%, to 922 million liters), which accounts for 7.9% of the market.

According to Yulia Kuzmina, head of the non-excise food products department at the CRPT, the growth in production is linked to an increase in consumer demand. In the 4th quarter of 2024, retail sales of dairy products grew by 8% year-on-year. The share of packaged yogurt in sales increased from 6.5% to 6.9%, while the share of packaged kefir decreased from 8.6% to 8.3%.

The Central Federal District (5.1 billion liters) was the leader in dairy production in 2024, followed by the Volga Federal District (2.6 billion liters) and the Siberian Federal District (961 million liters).
