With the growth of the global organic product market, estimated at $174.37 billion and projected to reach $233.56 billion by 2029, the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are actively working on creating a regulatory framework to support and develop organic agriculture. This was reported by DairyNews.today, citing the press service of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the "Roadmap" for creating a common organic product market, developed in 2021, the Eurasian Economic Commission, together with member states, is discussing a draft Agreement on the recognition of organic products within the EAEU.
An important aspect will be the mutual recognition of products certified according to international standards, such as the "Codex Alimentarius," which will simplify the trade of organic products between EAEU countries, covering a population of 185 million people. The signing of the agreement, scheduled for 2025, is expected to open new export opportunities for Kazakh entrepreneurs, strengthening Kazakhstan's position on the international stage.
